Volleyball Records A Perfect Weekend With Another Sweep

 
MARSHALL, Texas – The Louisiana Christian University volleyball program has now done something that no other team in school history can claim, opening up the season with back-to-back wins after cruising past the Wiley Wildcats, 3-0, in the Labor Day Classic.

Wildcats Top Performers:
 
  • Kierra Jones was on a mission to keep WC from scoring as much as possible, forming a wall at the net with a career-best eight blocks, five solos, as well as seven kills, three digs, and a solid .353 hitting percentage over 17 attacks.
 
  • Jones had double the number of blocks that Wiley had (8-4).
 
  • Aniah Adams attacked the Wildcats defense with precision and authority, unloading 11 kills in 17 attempts to post an eye-popping .529 success rate.
 
  • Carlie Horton can now boast a double-figure dig match to her college resume, doing so in her second game with an even dozen, four per set.
 
  • Julie Bordeau tied her career-best for the second straight game, going up and knocking down another three block solos.
 
  • Jessica Smith had a well-rounded morning, logging multiple aces (2), eight assists, and four digs.
 
  • Emma Cother rounded out the day with another solid showing, setting up 22 helpers for a 3.14 per set average.
Notes:
 
  • Louisiana Christian has now won consecutive matches for the first time since mid-October of last year, its first two straight sweeps since early October, and sweeps against two different opponents in-a-row for the first time since 2021.
 
  • LCU overwhelmed the hosts above the net, swatting down 12 blocks to Wiley's three, held the Purple and Black to a negative hitting percentage (-.038), and cobbled together an impressive .242 percentage as a team.

  • Volleyball will open Red River action on Friday at 7 p.m. with a rematch vs. Jarvis Christian College in Hawkins, Texas.
