FARMERS BRANCH, Texas – Louisiana Christian University's softball team opened its weekend trip of three doubleheaders in three days Thursday with a two-game sweep over Dallas Christian College.

At the Oran Good Softball Complex, the Wildcats won their non-conference matchups by scores of 3-1 and 13-4.

In the opening game,
Bailey McMillian threw a complete-game and allowed only three hits and two walks while striking out four batters. It was a her third complete-game victory of the season.

The 'Cats (15-17) ceded a run to Dallas Christian in the first inning before answering with two runs in the third.
Bella Houck's double
Emma Hunt from second base and moved
Desiree Squires to third. Squires then scored on
Kayla Dauthier's RBI groundout.

Olivia Coaker gave the 'Cats an insurance run in the top of the seventh when she knocked a pinch-hit double that scored
Lexi Broussard.

LCU's bats led the team to victory in game two as the 'Cats ended the game early by scoring five runs in the fifth inning. Houck hit two solo homeruns for LCU while
Jordan Dauthier's pinch-hit grand slam was the highlight of the Wildcats' big fifth inning.

Desiree Squires also homered for the Wildcats, knocking a two-run blast in the fourth as part of a three-RBI game.

The shortened game also meant freshman pitcher
Carley Koch was picked up the win in her first collegiate game in the circle. She allowed three earned runs and struck out two batters over three innings.
Katelyn Carpenter also made her collegiate debut by pitching a hitless, scoreless fifth inning for the 'Cats.

Koch also helped her own cause at the plate with an RBI single.
Brooke Ross and
Hailey Vitrano also recorded pinch-hit RBI singles.

The Wildcats return to conference play Friday when they visit the University of the Southwest in Hobbs, N.M. First pitch in Friday's doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m. Mountain Daylight Time (2 p.m. Central Daylight Time).
