The Wildcats faced William Woods at 3:30 on Friday and won 7-1 to open the 2022-2023 season. 

Emma Hunt earned the season's first hit with a single to the third basemen. Olivia Coaker then knocked her in with a stand-up double. BreAnna Corken kept the intensity by hitting a ball off the left field wall and scoring Coaker.

The Wildcats' defense kept the Owls from scoring until the third inning, due to an error. But the owls couldn't stop the Wildcat offense. The Wildcats were led in the third inning by senior Desiree Squires and junior Bella Houck with two back-to-back solo home runs.

Corkern and Coaker shut down the 4th inning with a double play, then Coaker started the 5th with a double to left field. Sophomore Jordan Dauthier doubled on a ground ball to left, scoring senior Maci Rozas and Squires. Junior Hailey Vitrano scored Dauthier on a hard ground ball to center.

LCU had a total of 9 hits—Coaker and Vitrano with multiple hits for the Wildcats. Senior Bailey McMillian took the win in the circle.
