LCU Explodes For Five-Goal First Half, Eases Past NAU

 
PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana Christian University men's soccer program dropped a half-dozen on North American University on Thursday night including a twin-to-twin connection to end the first half as the Wildcats coasted past the visitors from the Lone Star State, 6-0.

Wildcats Top Performers:
   
  • Otavio Marini got his first taste of four-year collegiate action after transferring in from LSU Eunice, cashing in a pair of saves over the final 17 minutes and change to help keep the shutout firmly intact.
 
  • Rodrigo Silva was on his A-game against the Stallions, notching six saves, his most in a shutout as a Wildcat and one shy of his season-high, over 72 minutes between the pipes.
 
  • A special moment occurred right before the close of the first half when Guilherme Mendes connected with his twin brother Duarte Mendes to score the fifth and final goal of the opening period courtesy of the Portuguese juniors.
 
  • It was especially memorable for Guilherme as it was his first career point/assist while Duarte tallied his third goal of the campaign.

  • The triumph moves the Wildcats to 10-3-3 on the season, which currently would stand as the best winning percentage in program history at .719, breaking last year's mark of .700 (11-3-6) if it stands.
