KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Louisiana Christian University football program did what it was supposed to do, taking care of business on Saturday with a 52-7 dominant victory at Texas College but despite the lopsided result, LCU was dropped out of the NAIA Top 25 in favor of Friends (Kansas).
Â
The gridiron Cats only fell one spot to #26 so they are still on the precipice of returning with a win this weekend at #24 Ottawa (Arizona), being only one of two teams in the receiving votes category with 34 votes, only five behind Friends.
Â
The Orange and Blue clad men from Pineville are at or near the top of the country in a multitude of categories, sitting in first regarding total offensive yards (3,541), sacks (32), first downs, and red zone scores / touchdowns (36 / 30).
Â
LCU is also the best in the Sooner Athletic Conference in terms of yards allowed per game (208.7), average time of possession (33:27), third down conversion percentage (45%), tackles (393), and punt average (41.0) among others.
Â
What was supposed to be a top-25 matchup in the desert on Saturday now turns into a evenly-matched contest between two NAIA Playoffs and SAC Championship hopefuls with the winner taking a giant step forward towards those dreams.
