Bleu Devils Erase 2-0 Deficit To Burn Cats

 
PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana Christian University volleyball program staked itself a two-nothing advantage and seemed to be cruising along as they won the first two sets by a combined 19 points, but Dillard found its footing and was able to storm all the way back to upend the Wildcats in a five-set thriller.

Wildcats Top Performers:
 
  • Numerous student-athletes had career-best performances as Leah Stamps hit the 30-dig plateau (30, 6.00 p/s) for the first time ever, Kate Campbell set a new benchmark in both points (16, 3.20 p/s) and kills (15, 3.00 p/s), Julie Bordeau finally crossed into the double-digits for kills (10, 2.00 p/s), and Emma Cother smacked three kills, a new high.
 
  • Campbell was deadly on the attack with a .375 hitting percentage plus a block solo.
 
  • Cother exploded for 46 assists (9.20 p/s) and 11 digs (2.20 p/s) to collect her fifth double-double in-a-row.
 
  • Kierra Jones tallied nine kills (1.80 p/s) and was the only player for the Cats with multiple blocks (2), both alone.
 
  • Katie Spell had 14 kills for an average of 2.80 per set while putting together half that amount in digs at seven (1.40 p/s).
 
Notes:
 
  • The Wildcats dropped to 8-13 (.381) all-time and 1-1 (.500) in five-set matches this season, taking down Jarvis Christian in its other occurrence on September 9.
 
  • LCU stacked up 54 assists (10.80 p/s) on the evening, setting a new team-high for the campaign.
