WOMEN'S HOOPS: Wildcats return home with 85-77 win over Jarvis Christian

PINEVILLE – Louisiana Christian University's women's basketball team snapped a two-game losing streak and evened their conference record Thursday by defeating Jarvis Christian 85-77.
 
Miya McKinney scored a career-high 28 points and pulled in 16 rebounds to lead the Wildcats (6-7), who improved to 3-3 in Red River Athletic Conference play. It was McKinney's eighth double-double of the season.
 
Paola Abad Prieto came off the LCU bench in the second half and scored 15 points while handing out five assists. Olivia Scott scored 13 points for the Wildcats.
 
Jarvis Christian (5-5, 3-4 RRAC) got 22 points and 12 rebounds from Faith Robinson.
 
The Wildcats shot 50 percent from the field in the first, third, and fourth quarters. Jarvis Christian closed the gap in the second period and led by as many as seven points midway through the third quarter, but LCU trimmed their guests' advantage onward from that point.
 
A 7-0 run by the 'Cats gave LCU a 10-point lead midway through the fourth quarter.
 
The Wildcats tallied 22 assists on their 30 field goals in the game. An'Tiesha Griffin handed out a team-high six assists to go along with seven points.
 
Alexis Lavarine scored eight points and grabbed seven rebounds for Louisiana Christian, while Paula Ferrer Nolla scored six points and pulled in eight rebounds.

The Wildcats return to action Saturday, Jan. 7, when they host Texas College. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the H.O. West Fieldhouse.
