PINEVILLE – Louisiana Christian University's women's basketball team opened a six-game homestand Thursday by defeating the University of the Southwest (N.M.) 79-66.

The Wildcats were led by
Miya McKinney, recorded her fifth consecutive double-double by pulling in 14 rebounds to go along with 26 points on 11 of 17 shooting.

McKinney led four Wildcats scoring in double-figures Thursday.
Claire Borot poured in 17 points and blocked four shots, giving her nine blocked shots over the past two games.
Paola Abad Prieto scored 15 points and tallied four steals, while
Olivia Scott chipped in 11 points.

Great teamwork and great passing helped the Wildcats build a lead that would reach 30 before the visiting Mustangs narrowed the margin when the game was out of reach. LCU players handed out 24 assists on their 29 field goals.

Noa Fernandez Fuentes dished 11 assists for the Wildcats, the most by an LCU player since Gracie Lacroix's 11-assist performance Nov. 18, 2018. In that game, the 'Cats, who competed in the NCAA's Division III at the time, defeated Wesleyan College 102-36 in Salem, Va.Â

The Wildcats (9-9, 6-5 RRAC) return to action Tuesday, Jan. 24, when they continue the second round of Red River Athletic Conference play by hosting Xavier (La.). Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
