WOMEN'S HOOPS: Wildcats surge past LSU–Shreveport 68-41

PINEVILLE – Louisiana Christian University's women's basketball team snapped LSU–Shreveport's eight-game winning streak in commanding fashion Thursday as the Wildcats cruised to a 68-41 win at home.

The Wildcats (10-9, 7-5 RRAC) jumped out to a 14-2 lead and never looked back as they handed the visiting Pilots (16-5, 10-3 RRAC) their biggest loss of the season.

Miya McKinney posted her sixth consecutive double-double with 17 points and a career-high 23 rebounds to lead the 'Cats. Claire Borot scored 16 points and blocked three shots for LCU, while An'Tiesha Griffin chipped in 11 points and handed out three assists.

LCU held the Red River Athletic Conference's second-place team to 27 percent shooting (15 of 55) from the field and 22 percent (5 of 23) from 3-point range. No LSUS player scored in double-figures; Tatym Barnes came off the Pilots bench and scored a team-high eight points.

Not including exhibition losses to NCAA Division I opponents, the Wildcats handed LSU–Shreveport its first loss by at least 20 points since last season. LCU's win was the biggest setback for the Pilots since an 83-39 loss to then No. 11-ranked Central Methodist on Nov. 20, 2021.

The Wildcats return to action Saturday, Jan. 28, when they host Rapides Parish rival LSU–Alexandria at the H.O. West Fieldhouse. The women's game will tip off Saturday's doubleheader, which is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
