BATESVILLE, Ark. -The Louisiana Christian University Wildcats men's soccer team came away with a hard-fought tie after battling back from behind in their match against Lyon College on Thursday.Â
Lyon College was first to strike as Scots midfielder Leonardo Galdino scored a penalty kick after a foul on the Wildcat's defense in the 55th minute to make the score 1-0.Â
Later in the second half, the Wildcats made a personnel change as they subbed in Shakeem Walters in the 71st minute.Â
Walters got into the action quickly and was especially active within the 74th minute. The forward had a shot on goal with a header at 74:13. 25 seconds later, Walters found the back of the goal as he scored off an assist from Alvaro Tudanca. That made the score 1-1, which resulted in the final score.Â
The Wildcats finished with 15 shots, six of them on goal. Shakeem Walters, Lucas Lima, and Adrian Amoros Navarro all had 2 shots on goal. Martin Hernandez protected the goal well and ended the night with 8 saves.
With the tie, the Wildcats move to 3-2-1 on the season. The Scots now sit at 1-6-2.
The men will travel to Conway, Arkansas to play Central Baptist, Saturday at 11 a.m.Â
