LCU Falls to William Baptist despite Amoros Navarro's Goal in the 59th minute

 

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark- The Louisiana Christian University men's soccer team fought hard against Williams Baptist University at the WBU Soccer Field, falling 2-1 to the Eagles. With the loss the Wildcats sit at 3-2 in their season

 

In the first period, Williams Baptist out shot Louisiana Christian 12 to 1. Martin Hernandez performs well under the press with 9 saves in the first period to defend against Williams Baptist. The Wildc.ats defensive fought throughout the game to help Hernandez defend the Eagles. Paul Richter assisted Hernandez with a save from a shot by the Eagles. The Wildcats managed to hold off the Eagles the whole first period.

 

In the second period, the Wildcats struck first at 59:56 to have the lead 1-0. Adrian Amoros Navarro scored the goal and was assisted by Alvaro Tudanca, this was also Amoros Navarro's first goal of the season. The Wildcat's defense held strong until 71:40 when the Eagles struck back with a goal by Gabriel Di Mauro. The Wildcats out shot the Eagles in the second period 11-6. 

 

Even though the Wildcats fell short, the men still fought hard throughout the game. With 12 total saves and 12 total shots. Sergio Pita Martín lead the team in shots on goal, and Adrian Amoros Navarro had the only goal of the game. The goalie Martin Hernandez ended the game with a total of 14 saves.

 

The Wildcats will face Lyon College in Batesville, AR next Thursday, Sept.15.
