HAWKINS, Texas – The Louisiana Christian University baseball team opened its series against Jarvis Christian with a blast, as
Adrian Aguilar led off the game with a home run, and never looked back as the Wildcats run-ruled the Bulldogs 11-0 in eight innings Sunday afternoon at Bulldog Field.
Adrian Aguilar opened the game the best way possible, hitting a home run in the lead off spot to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead after just one at-bat in the contest.
But it would stay that way until the third inning, which is where the Wildcats blew the game open.
Keelyn Johnson's base hit knocked in Aguilar again.
Nick Brunet singled to score
Alex Ashby, and then an error by the Bulldog shortstop allowed both Brunet and
Ju'Juan Franklin to score and make it 5-0 after three complete.
A trio of runs scored in the sixth inning.
Alex Ashby knocked in
Beau Freeman,
Keelyn Johnson's base hit plated
Jacob Fowler, and
Nick Brunet's ground ball to short allowed Ashby to score to put LCU up 8-0.
The eighth inning would be the final inning needed as LCU put in three more to enact the run-rule.
Ju'Juan Franklin tripled, scoring
Keelyn Johnson. Franklin would later come in on a passed ball. With the bases loaded,
Jacob Fowler took ball four to force in
Dru Scully for the 11-0 lead, which would be the final score once the Wildcats defense kept the Bulldogs off the board in the bottom half of the inning.
Keelyn Johnson continues to hit RRAC pitching well, going three-for-four with a triple, two RBI and a run scored.
Adrian Aguilar went two-for-four with his first home run of the season and scored twice in the game.
Ju'Juan Franklin went one-for-two with a triple, a walk, a hit by pitch, a stolen base, a RBI, and two runs scored.
Brooks Southall (3-0) started and went five innings, allowing just two hits and no runs with three walks and five strikeouts.
Rett Bowman got his first save of the season by throwing three innings and giving up only one hit with no runs, no walks, and five strikeouts.
The Wildcats (9-3, 3-1 RRAC) and Bulldogs (2-14, 0-4 RRAC) close the conference series on Monday with a doubleheader. First pitch of game one is set for noon at Bulldog Field in Hawkins, Texas.
