WACO, Texas – For the third straight week, a member of the Louisiana College men's soccer team was recognized as the conference's top offensive player as
Alvaro Tudanca's two goal, two assist week led him to be named the Red River Athletic Conference's Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.
Tudanca, a senior midfielder from Madrid, Spain, picked up an assist on the goal that would ultimately be the game-winner on last Monday's match against Mississippi University for Women. He followed that up with a two-goal, one assist outing Saturday evening against Central Baptist College. His goal in the 23
rd minute against the Mustangs, which was also his first goal of the season, brought the score back level at 2-2. He then assisted on LC's 33
rd minute goal, which put the Wildcats up 3-2. In overtime, he delivered with 12 seconds left in the first extra period as his direct free kick from 27 yards out found the top right corner of the net for the game-winner.
This award is Tudanca's first career conference weekly honor, and he is the fourth Wildcat overall to receive weekly honors on the men's side of things as João Pedro Giraldez Franco and
Adrian Amoros Navarro have also been named RRAC Offensive Players of the Week this season while
Martin Hernandez was named the Defensive Player of the Week for the first set of awards for the season.
Tudanca and the rest of the Wildcats (4-0) look to continue the hottest start in program history on Tuesday night when LC faces an old conference foe in Belhaven University. Kickoff of Tuesday night's match against the Blazers (0-1) is set for 7:30 P.M. at the Belhaven Bowl Stadium.
