Wildcats Take Down Eagles 10-3

The offensive slugfest continued on Saturday afternoon in Arkansas for the Louisiana College baseball team as they took the series win with a 10-3 game three victory over the University of the Ozarks. Junior hurler Andrew Robinson threw his second nine inning complete game of the season, while the Cats pounded out 12 hits including five for extra bases.

If there was a home run hit this weekend for LC, chances are there were two men on bases when the ball cleared the fence. That was the case in the top of the first when Keelyn Johnson hit a 3-run shot after back-to-back hit batters put runners on for the Cats. The Eagles would hit a solo homer in the bottom of the inning but the Cats took that run right back in the second on a Brodie Falgoust RBI single.

With the Cats holding the 4-1 lead, Andrew Robinson went to work on the mound. He would retired 16 of the 18 batters he would face following the solo home run in the bottom of the first before running into a little trouble in the bottom of the seventh. By that time though, LC had ballooned their lead from three runs to seven, with an 8-1 advantage entering the inning.

In the fourth the Cats would pick up a run on a passed ball with the bases loaded, then an RBI single from Christian Vandergrift made it a 6-1 game. They would follow that with two more runs in the fifth on RBI doubles from Dylan Keller and Ty Morgan in the inning. Konner James would put a cap on the explosive weekend for the Cats in the top of the ninth with a 2-run homer that gave LC their third 10 run, 10 plus hit game of the weekend.

Robinson picked up his eighth win of the season, and his second complete game of the year. The win total is tied for the third most in a single season for an LC pitcher in program history, and the first 8-win pitcher since Cole Prejean in 2011. The win is also the 27th on the season, tying the record for most wins in a single season in the LC NCAA era.

The Wildcats will host ASC rival
ETBU next weekend in a pivotal final series in terms of conference tournament seeds and bracket hosting duties. The series will start on Friday night with a single game starting at 6 p.m. at Billy Allgood Field. Stay connected to Louisiana College baseball by following @LC_bsb on Twitter.
