Here's to You, Mr. Robinson



The Louisiana College baseball team accomplished something they hadn't done since 2016 on Saturday and starting pitcher Andrew Robinson did something that had never been done since the Wildcats joined the NCAA. For the first time since the 2016 season the Wildcats swept an American Southwest Conference series with their 7-0 win over Belhaven Saturday. 
 
While the win was a big one for the team, their 10thin a row, it was the performance of pitcher Andrew Robinson that shined brightest for the Cats. The junior, in his third start of the season, threw the first nine inning complete game shutout in the Louisiana College NCAA era. Robinson gave up only four hits in the game with six strikeouts. He faced just three batters over the minimum without allowing a walk or hitting a batter and faced just three batters in six of the nine innings he threw picking up his third, and most impressive, win of the season.
 
With Robinson commanding the Belhaven lineup it was up to the LC offense to provide some run support and after riding a Clayton Noakes RBI double in the first inning, the bats would come alive late for LC.
 
The score was 1-0 in LC's favor through six innings when the Wildcats would put some breathing room between them and the Blazers with a pair of runs in the seventh. After loading the bases, Brady Atkins would deliver a 2-run base knock through the right side that put LC up 3-0.
 
Still wanting more, the Cats all but cemented the game in the eighth as Konner James hit an RBI single to left, then a Nick Moreau 2-run single to right center added two more giving LC the 6-0 lead with still no outs. Christian Vandergrift would plate the Cats final run of the game on a ground ball to third bringing Ty Morgan in to score and making it 7-0 LC.
 
The Wildcats picked up their 10thwin in a row with the shutout and improved to 14-5 overall and 3-3 in conference play.
