The Louisiana College Lady Wildcats took on Belhaven in divisional play in a game that was postponed from the week prior Tuesday night. The ladies were able to take home the win, edging Belhaven 73-66 in a tightly contested game.
The first half of ball saw the Wildcats go back and forth with Belhaven when they score was 15-11 in the Wildcats favor at the end of the first quarter. A second quarter surge by the Wildcats resulted in them putting up 26 points and going into the half with a 41-31 lead.
Belhaven tried their hardest to claw back back in the second half with putting up 15 points in the third quarter with the wildcats putting 16 of their own. The lady Wildcats had a 12 point lead going into the fourth quarter as they led Belhaven 57-45. Belhaven just could not squeeze out enough offense to hang with the lady Wildcats as they scored 21 in the fourth resulting in a Wildcat 73-66 win.
The ladies were led by their senior guard Kourtney McGhee as she led the team in scoring with 24 points while going 7-for-11 from the field, 2-for-4 from the arc, and 8-for-10 from the free throw line. McGhee wasn't alone in her scoring efforts as senior Janae Smith went off for 16 points and and freshman Jayla Landrum added 14 of her own.
The Lady Wildcats look to build a streak of their own as they continue conference play this Thursday at H.O. West Fieldhouse against LeTourneau University at 5:30 P.M.
