Box Score MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – In a battle of Wildcats out on the west coast, it was the Louisiana College men's basketball team who scratched deeper in an 85-74 win over the Linfield Wildcats Sunday afternoon at Ted Wilson Gymnasium.
After taking a 37-35 lead to the halftime locker room, Louisiana College got separation to start the second half, going on a 14-5 run over the first 5:30 of the period to open up the first double digit lead of the game on a
KJ Bilbo free throw that made it 51-40. The big run, however, came after Linfield had cut that lead down to just a single point with a 10-0 push, as LC responded with a 13-2 run of their own to turn a 51-50 lead to a 64-52 advantage following a
Trey Ames dunk with eight minutes left in the contest, and didn't allow Linfield to threaten again in the contest.
Kae'ron Baker led Louisiana College with 21 points, 7 assists, and 5 rebounds.
Jaylen Rhone hit nine of his 14 shots to finish with 20 points, including two three pointers.
Denzel Austin rounded out the leading scorers with 13 points. LC hit on 48.5% of their shots on an effective shooting night, while holding Linfield to 41.3% from the field.
Louisiana College (5-3) returns to action on Monday, finishing off the Oregon road trip in Salem against Williamette University. Tip-off against the Bearcats (1-8) is set for 5:00 Pacific time/7:00 Central time at Cone Field House.
