Wildcats look to bounce back on the road Saturday

10/4/2019 6:06:00 PM

Louisiana College football looks to get back on the winning track when it heads to Brownwood, Texas Saturday to face Howard Payne University.
The Wildcats, 1-3 overall and 1-2 in the American Southwest Conference, face a Yellow Jackets team that has also dropped two in a row, standing at 2-2, 1-2.
LC fell at home last week to No. 7 Hardin-Simmons 51-6, while HPU lost at No. 1 Mary Hardin-Baylor 65-0.
"Our kids understand," LC Head Coach Justin Charles said this week. "It's back to the basics now. We all lost a little bit of focus and we all have to gather ourselves and get to work. That's the Wildcat way. We're going to try not to get outworked any day of the week."
The Wildcats are averaging 10.5 points per game this season, with 307 yards of offense per game. That's with 243.5 passing yards per game and 63.5 on the ground.
HPU is averaging 31 ppg and 392 yards of offense per contest. The Jackets average 156.5 yards on the ground and 235 through the air.
Youth is key for LC this season, especially at several offensive skill positions. Starting at quarterback has been sophomore Landon Lalonde. He missed all of last game and most of the one prior with an injury, but filling in has been freshman Sal Palermo, III. The duo has combined to throw for 974 yards and 6 scores on the season, with a 52 percent completion rate.
Wideout Micah Dunn is a sophomore, with top TD catcher Jarred Simpson just a freshman, and Zion Williams a junior.
LC continues it's football Texas tour next week with an ASC contest at Texas Lutheran in Seguin.
Saturday's kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Gordon Wood Stadium. Live action can be heard on 104.3 The Bridge.
