Lady Wildcats Fall to UTT 3-1

The Louisiana College volleyball team wrapped up their mini-East Texas road trip on Saturday afternoon with a matchup against #20 University of Texas at Tyler. The Wildcats stunned the UTT in the first set but could not hold off the talented Patriots falling in four 22-25, 25-7, 25-15, 25-13. The Wildcats return to action next week as they travel to Longview, Texas for a pivotal conference match against LeTourneau University.

The first set of the afternoon looked dire early on for the Wildcats with UTT scoring the first eight points of the match in a row before a Sadi Jones solo block got LC on the board. Tyler had as much as an 11-point lead in the set but the Wildcats continued to chip away as play progressed. A 7-0 run by LC brought the set back within a pair at 20-18. Three kills by Paulo Salas Adorno, one each from Pais Babino and Niajia Huval during the run put the momentum in the Wildcats corner. LC tied things at 21 just a few moments later on a UTT attack error and a duo of kills from Adorno. An ace from the JUCO transfer put the Cats up 23-22 and Huval finished things with two kills to give the Wildcats the first set 25-22.

The Patriots though would bounce back with a vengeance and cruise through the second set 25-7. The Wildcats gathered themselves after the tough second set and played a stronger third and fourth frames but the effort was not enough to overcome the powerful Patriots. UTT hit nearly .500 in both the final two sets 25-15, 25-13 to ease to their ninth straight victory.

LC will travel to Longview for a series of three matches next Friday and Saturday. They will take on LeTourneau in a pivotal ASC East match on Friday before taking on the University of Dallas in a non-conference matchup that evening. They'll finish the weekend with a trip to East Texas Baptist University on Saturday. Stay connected to Louisiana College volleyball by following @LC_wvolleyball on Twitter.
