Lady Wildcats Lose Battle with Comets



The Louisiana College volleyball team returned to play Friday night in American Southwest Conference play within their own Eastern Division. Matched up against one of the best in the conference the Wildcats fought tough through the second and third sets but the Comets were too much for the Wildcats on the night winning in straight sets 25-10, 25-22, 25-18. LC will take on UT Tyler on Saturday afternoon in their next contest.
 
The Comets jumped out to a quick 10-0 lead in the first set and did not look back from their taking easy care of the Wildcats in the first 25-10. The second set however was a much different game as the Wildcats held a 6-1 lead early thanks to three big kills from Jaslyn Bright. The Cats held the lead for the majority of the set, keeping the Comets at bay and just out of reach. Kills from Bright and Paola Salas Adorno later in the set put LC up 16-13. The Comets would make their comeback at that point however and eventually tied the set at 19. UTD scored the next five straight points to reach a set point but the Wildcats found a late rally of their own. Kills from Bright and Sadi Jones gave the Wildcats a pair of points along with a UTD error but the rally would end their as UTD finished things with a kill to take the 25-22 set victory.
 
After the opening point of the third set went to the Wildcats, UTD scored seven straight to take a relatively comfortable 7-1 lead. The advantage continued to grow for the Comets as the set continued doubling up LC at 12-6 then going to double digits at 18-8. A quick four point run by LC brought the Cats back within a handful on kills by Jones and Paris Babino but the effort was not enough to make the comeback complete.
