Wildcats Fall to Cru to End Crossover Weekend



The Louisiana College volleyball team wrapped their first American Southwest Conference crossover weekend on Saturday with a straight set loss to the host University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, 25-14, 25-21, 25-14. The Wildcats will return to action on Tuesday night as they host Centenary College at H.O. West Fieldhouse at 7pm.
 
The Wildcats hung tight with the Cru through the early stages of the first set, trailing by just a couple at 11-9, but that was when UMHB began to pull away. A 5-1 run gave them a six-point edge then later a 6-0 all but put the first set away for the Cru as they took the 25-14 set win.
 
The second set was a different story as the Wildcats battled throughout the frame taking the lead at the midway point thanks to a 5-0 run of their own. Jaslyn Bright provided a pair of kills with Sadi Jones and I'Nyah Kately each adding one of their own to put LC up 12-10. The Cru quickly regained the lead but the Wildcats came right back and held the slim 17-16 lead before UMHB made their final push. The Cru made a 6-0 run to go ahead 22-17 with LC making a late attempt at coming back but could not make it all the way falling 25-21. After the late push fell short in the second the Wildcats ran out of steam for the third. The Cru jumped out to an 11-4 lead and did not look back from there, taking the final set 25-14 and the match 3-0.
 
The Wildcats make their way back to H.O. West Fieldhouse for their final home game in September as they take on Centenary at 7pm.
