Lady Wildcats Downed by Tigers

The Louisiana College volleyball team played their second of three straight home matches on Saturday afternoon as they entertained American Southwest Conference rival East Texas Baptist University. The Wildcats struggled to maintain consistent momentum throughout the match and lost to the Tigers in straight sets 25-8, 25-15, 25-10. LC will host Belhaven University on Wednesday night at H.O. West Fieldhouse in another conference matchup beginning at 7 p.m.

Long stretches of points told the story the majority of the afternoon for ETBU as they steadily pulled away from the Wildcats in each of the three sets. A 12-1 run in the first put the set firmly in the hands of the Tigers and gave them a 13-3 lead in the process. An 8-2 run at the end of the set finished off the 25-8 opener.

The Wildcats responded early in the second set and were neck and neck with their conference rivals. Kills by Jaslyn Bright, Sadi Jones, and A'Qia Chambers set the Wildcats up with a tie game at 6-6. Down by just two later in the set another long run by the Tigers gave them the advantage they needed to take the second set. An 8-0 run gave the Tigers a 10 point advantage, that they would hold on to for the 25-15 second set winner.

LC began the third set with a 4-0 run of their own with three of the four points coming on kills from freshman I'Nyah Kately. ETBU responded with a 16-2 run to take another 10-point advantage in the match. The Wildcats found a little momentum late in the third on a kills from Paris Babino and Jaslyn Bright but the deficit was too much for them to overcome.

LC returns to action on Wednesday night as they host Belhaven in another ASC conference match scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Stay connected to Louisiana College volleyball by following @LC_wvolleyball on Twitter.
