Tyler Tops Wildcats 4-1

The Louisiana College Soccer team traveled to Tyler, Texas, to face the Patriots in the second to last match of the season. The Patriots won 4-1 in a game that did not count, the Patriots are moving to division two so they can not compete in the American Southwest Conference. The Cats face the University of the Ozarks Saturday in the final game of the season in Clarksville, Arkansas.

The Patriots came out and attacked from the start, controlling the flow of the game. The Cats defended for the majority of the game, relying on counterattacks and set pieces to create chances on goal.

The Patriots struck first, in the 17th minute, a low driven shot to the far post beats Evan Barker for the first score.

Later in the first half, Tyler extended their lead to two in the 33rd minute. Again, a low driven shot against Barker worked for the Patriots.

In the second half, the Cats came close to going further down after giving Tyler a penalty kick in the 50th minute. A foul by an LC defended gave the Patriots a chance to score 12 yards from goal. Fortunately,  Barker dove the right way and stopped the goal scoring opportunity and kept the game within reach.

Minutes late, the Cats came within one in the 58th minute. Jay Pinto scored his fourth goal of the season with a well placed low shot to bring the score 2-1.

The Patriots quickly responded to the score, scoring twice in two minutes, first in the 60th and then in the 62nd minute,  moving three goals away. The remainder of the match, the Cats defended with all they had, but their attack could not find an answer to the Tyler goals and fell  4-1.

The Wildcats play their final match of the season against the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, Arkansas, Saturday afternoon in an ASC contest.
