Lady Wildcats Lose 3-0 to #17 Patriots

The Louisiana College volleyball team completed their 2018 home schedule on Saturday afternoon hosting #17 University of Texas at Tyler. The Patriots showed their quality from the very beginning of the match to take the clean 3-0 sweep of the Wildcats. LC will travel to Centenary College on Monday evening before closing the season in Conway, Ark next weekend.

After dropping the first set to the Wildcats a few weeks ago in Tyler, the Patriots did not take the Wildcats lightly and came out swinging. They jumped out to a 12-2 advantage right away in the match. LC picked up a couple kills from Niajia Huval and Mary Nichols moments later, but UTT were back on the attack quickly and ended the set on an 11-4 run to take the first 25-10.

The second began as the first with Tyler out to an early lead, but this time the Wildcats would fight their way back near the end of the frame. Down 22-13, the Wildcats made their late push in the second. Five Tyler errors in the final stretch helped the cause, along with two kills from Jaslyn Bright to get LC with a handful at 24-20, but the run ended on an LC attack error to give the Patriots the 2-0 match lead.

Two lengthy runs by the Patriots in the third set told the tale for UTT as they had run of 5-0 and a 6-0 run to finish the match 25-11. The Wildcats added to the Patriot advantage with 10 errors in the third set with UTT getting 11 kills on the other end accounting for 21 of the 25 total points.

The Wildcats travel to Centenary on Monday night in Shreveport then end the season with matches against UT Tyler and Hendrix College next weekend in Arkansas.
