Comets Soar Past Wildcats



The Louisiana College volleyball team played the first of their final two home matches of the season on Friday night hosting the University of Texas at Dallas. The Comets showed their #5 West Region ranking with a easy 3-0 sweep at H.O. West Fieldhouse. The Wildcats will close their home schedule on Saturday afternoon hosting the University of Texas at Tyler with a 2 p.m. start time.
 
The Comets came out swinging on Friday evening as they jumped out to a 13-2 advantage early in the first set. Fourteen kills and a .520 attack percentage along with seven LC errors made the first set move quickly through as UTD took the 25-11 set win. Errors continued to haunt the Wildcats into the second set as well, committing nine more while earning just three kills leading to a 25-9 set loss.
 
Down 2-0 in the match the Wildcats were finally able to settle themselves and play more like what they have shown over the past two weeks of the season. A UTD error, and ace from Paola Salas Adorno, and a kill from Jaslyn Bright in a row gave LC an early 6-4 lead. The Comets tied the set on a couple different occasions over the next run of play but the Wildcats, on a kill from Paris Babino made it 16-13 Wildcats. Unfortunatly that would be the final kill for the Wildcats until it was far too late in the match. The Comets went on a 12-3 run to finish the match that included an 8-0 run that gave them the lead.
 
The Wildcats will play their final home match of the season on Saturday afternoon against UT Tyler beginning at 2 p.m. at H.O. West.
