Box Score

The Louisiana College Women's Soccer Team played game two of their road trip to Texas Saturday afternoon against the University of Texas at Dallas, falling 5-0 after a cross heavy Comet attack.

The Cats were under attack early in the game with multiple shots from Dallas players before a Jacquie Kaufman header beat the LC defense. The Comets sent balls wide to be crossed into the box and after an LC foul in the 11th minute, the Comets were in position. Melissa Fulfer took the kick from the right side of Haley Clark's goal and poor defending would see the ball deflect off a Wildcat giving Kaufman all she needed to take the lead.

The Cats wouldn't create a chance in response but important Clark saves would keep the score close. Dominating the mid-field and game flow, Dallas would repeat their initial effort to add to the lead.

Pushing down the right flank of LC, Keely Fillman would send a cross to Fulfer, receiving the ball and dribbling past the LC backline going one-on-one against Clark. Fulfer started on Clark's right passing the last defender to bring Clark forward, a well placed right footed pass would make it 2-0 UTD in the 24th minute.

The Comets were in full control, abandoning holding back numbers from the back, they would push further and further down the field. The Cats were holding a strong defensive form in the middle of the field, keeping compact, forcing Dallas to play wide. The Comets played along and continued to play crosses in the mix testing LC's clearing.

The gamble would pay off minutes later in the 29th after a deflected shot would open the LC defense. Maya Fuller was in the right position after the previous shot by Bailee Davis was blocked but still remained in the 18-yard box. Fuller controlled the bouncing ball pushing it to the middle of Clark's goal, firing it to her left, beating Clark's dive making it 3-0.

The Cats made many subs hoping to chance the game but coming onto the pitch would be inexperienced fresh legs. The changes would spark some possession but the Cats had problems leaving their half. The Cats would hold on for the final minutes of the first half behind brave keeping by Clark and blocking Dallas shots keeping the score at 3-0.

The 15-minute break would not slow down the Comets. After the restart, their attack would pick up right were it left off. Continuing to work the ball down the LC flanks, Dallas would move to cross the ball when in the final third. The 46th minute was no different; a Fulfer cross would find Kaufman, redirecting the cross to the back post, Stephanie White was ready and headed the ball goal-ward.

The fifth and final Dallas goal would again start from a crossed ball from an outside player. This time from the left side of LC, Fulfer would get her second goal of the day behind an Alyssa Kolvitz driven pass. The pass was towards goal bringing Clark forward but a fast paced Fulfer would beat Clark, kicking the ball underneath her into the goal in the 64th minute.

The Lady Cats could not leave their half failing to test the Dallas keeper finishing the game without a shot. Clark would manage to save 19 of 49 shots for the game.

The Cats fall to 0-5-2 for the season and are back home Thursday against conference opponent Univ. of Mary Hardin-Baylor. The game kicks off at 5 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium. For more on the Lady Wildcats follow them on FaceBook under Louisiana College Women's Soccer and Twitter at LC_WSOC.
