Wildcats Look Ahead to Tournament After Senior Day Defeat

LCU Set to Face TAMUT Again in RRAC Tournament First Round

PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana Christian University women's soccer team ended its regular season with a 4-1 loss to Texas A&M-Texarkana on Saturday evening at Wildcat Field and now turn their attention to a first round rematch in the RRAC Tournament with the Eagles.

Louisiana Christian (7-7-1, 4-5 RRAC) trailed Texas A&M-Texarkana (14-2-1, 7-2 RRAC) from the 13th minute and generated its first shot in the 21st minute, when Maria White put an effort on target that was saved. After the deficit grew to 2-0 in the 30th minute, Isabella Urbaneto tested the goalkeeper in the 44th minute. The Wildcats entered halftime with four shots, including two on goal, while goalkeeper Marta Papandrea made three saves.

Giselle Laing forced a save in the 52nd minute with LCU's first shot of the second half, but the Wildcats could not cut into the deficit. They conceded in the 55th minute, then fell behind 4-0 in the 70th minute.

The Wildcats continued creating chances late. LCU earned a penalty kick in the 77th minute but it was sent high, and Giovanna Rocha had a header saved in the 82nd minute. Rocha broke through in the 86th minute, tapping in Urbaneto's free kick for her third goal of the season. The finish capped a second half in which the Wildcats produced seven shots and all four of their corner kicks.

Laing led LCU with five shots, putting two on goal, while Rocha placed both of her attempts on target. Katalina Medina added two shots. Urbaneto contributed an assist alongside her first-half effort on goal, and White also finished with one shot on target.

Papandrea played all 90 minutes and finished with six saves, split evenly between the halves. LCU was outshot 21-11 and trailed 10-6 in shots on goal but held a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.

The Wildcats and Eagles will get to do it do it all over again next week as LCU earned the six-seed in the 2026 Red River Athletic Conference Championship Tournament while the Eagles took the three-seed, setting up a rematch between the two teams in the tournament's opening round. Kickoff of the RRAC Tournament match between LCU and TAMUT will be announced later.
