One day after suffering a 5-0 defeat to Centenary in Shreveport, the Louisiana College women's soccer team took on Millsaps College in Jackson, MS. Although they were not able to pick up their first win of the year, they did score their first two goals and earned a 2-2 draw against the Majors.
The Wildcats had a golden opportunity early in the match after a Major yellow card inside the 18-yard box gave LC a penalty kick just five minutes into regulation. Emily Bryant took the kick but Millsaps keeper Olivia Gattuso was able to get a hand to it and keep it from the back of the net.
The Wildcats would eventually break through for the first time in 2016 when Chelsea Lee found Brooke Jones for a goal in the 37th minute, that gave LC the lead late in the first half.
Down 1-0 after the first half Millsaps was able to take the lead in the span of just a few minutes of the second half after a tap in following a corner kick and a successful penalty kick just six minutes after tying the game.
With just over 10 minutes left in the match the Widlcats were able to find the equalizer thanks to
Rometta Lombard and Ashlyn Folse combining for Folse's first goal of the season. With the game tied at 2 neither team were able to convert in either of the overtime periods with just three combined shots over the 20 minutes of extra time.
The Wildcats finished their second 110 minute match in the span of just a few days with a draw and move to 0-1-2 on the season. The Lady Wildcats will return to action on Wednesday night back at Wildcat Field when they take on Delta State starting at 5 p.m.
