Box Score

The Louisiana College soccer teams were swept by McMury on Thursday night in a pair of close matches with the winning scores not coming until the second half in both games.  The women were defeated 1-0 and the men lost by a score of 2-0 to the War Hawks.

In the women's game, with both teams looking for their first wins of the season it was a second half goal in the 59th minute by the War Hawks' Cristen Lumbreras that proved to be the decider.  The goal came after an errant clearance attempt fell in from of Lumbreras and she was able to get on the ball and take it to the goal from 60 yards away, out pacing the Wildcats defense.

LC did have multiple golden opportunities to score the equalizer but the first touch would be to strong or the pass would come just out of the reach to put a good foot to it.  LC was out shot by the War Hawks 14-8 in the game and the Wildcats did not produce a single shot on goal in the game.

Later on in the men's match, both team would turn in solid defensive outings for the first half as neither team were able to get on the scoreboard and effectively mount any threating attack against the others defense.  The second half started to turn towards McMurry as they began to have more and more chances before eventually finding the back of the net after a corner kick led to Rafael Lara tapping the ball past Jacob Johnson for the go ahead goal.  The War Hawks added another goal later in the match in the 67th minute after the ball bounced away from Johnson in goal and another tapper header went past him into the net.

Both the men and women will play in another ASC double header on Saturday afternoon as they host the Hardin-Simmons Cowboys.  The Hardin-Simmons women currently sit atop the ASC standing with a 6-1 overall record and 2-0 in conference play, while the men sit in second play at 4-2 overall and 2-0 in ASC play.  Kickoff for the women's match is scheduled for 1 pm and the men will start at 3:30 pm at Wildcat Field.
