Lady Wildcats Lose in Extra Innings to UT-Tyler

In the first game of the double-header Saturday, the Patriots jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the second on an RBI single, a 2-run double, and a 2-run homerun. The Wildcats got on the board in the fourth with 2-runs on a Mattie Stine RBI triple and a groundout by Kourtney Herrera to score Stine. Tyler added two more runs in the sixth for the 7-2 victory.

Mattie Stine went 2 for 4 in the game for half of the Wildcats 4 total hits. Darian Thacker pitched 4.1 innings of relief, scattering 8 hits and allowing 2 runs.

The series finale was a pitcher's dual between Savannah Settle and Alaina Kissinger with neither team scoring runs until the Wildcats took the lead on a solo homerun by Jessica Johnson in the top of the fifth. LC added to their lead in the sixth on a bases loaded walk to Kourtney Herrera and we up 2-0 going into the bottom of the inning.

The Patriots, however, would be able to tie the game in the sixth on back-to-back 2-out singles. Neither team would be able to score in the seventh sending the game to extra innings where UT-Tyler would win the game on a walk-off sacrifice fly to center field.

LC made the most of their 4 hits in the game, with the 2 runs they were able to score. Savannah Settle scattered 12 Patriot hits over 7.2 innings of work and struck our 5 allowing just the 3 runs.

The Lady Wildcats will finish the regular season at home next weekend as they host UT-Dallas with major ASC tournament seeding implications on the line. The series is set for a double-header on Friday starting at 4pm and a single game Saturday at 12pm.
