Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3

The Louisiana College Lady Wildcats made perhaps the longest trip in the ASC conference over the weekend to Alpine, TX, to take on the Sul Ross Lobos in conference play.  The Lady Wildcats come back to Pineville winners of 2 of 3 from the Lobos and are now 12-3 on the season and 10-2 in conference play.

In game one of the double header on Friday, the game remained scoreless through the first 2 innings before the Lady Wildcats go on the board with an RBI groundout by Heather Simmons to score Ellen Bairnsfather.  LC would add another in the fourth and the 3 more in the fifth after a leadoff double by Kelsey Kelly, and later scoring on one of Sul Ross's 3 errors in the game. Jade Johnson would single in the third run of the inning to score Regan LeJeune, and give the Lady Wildcats the 5-0 lead.  They would finish the scoring with one more in the sixth, but it was once again the pitching performance of Sophomore Savannah Settle that was the most impressive.  Settle (9-0) pitched all 7.0 innings only allowing 1 run on 3 hits, with just 4 strikeouts.

Later that evening in game two of the series Sul Ross jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with runs in the first and second, but the Lady Wildcats would take the lead in the third on a 2-run double by Morgan Wampler and then she would score two batters later on a Lobos error.  The lead however was short lived as Sul Ross tied the game in the bottom of the fourth and then with the bases loaded and 2-outs in the bottom of the seventh, the Lobos Nicole Stoltz would single into center field to win the game 4-3 for Sul Ross.

Then in game three Saturday afternoon, the Lady Wildcats would waste no time bouncing back from a disappointing loss the day before.  LC would score runs in the first 4 innings of play including a 7-run third inning that included three extra base hits from, Regan LeJeune, Jessica Johnson, and Jordan Mason. The Lady Wildcats wouldn't score any more after the fourth but that was all they needed as they completed the 11-4 win to clinch the weekend series.  Savannah Settle pitched well again, as she did in the first game, going all 7.0 innings and striking out 10.

The Lady Wildcats return to Pineville this weekend for a conference series with Hardin-Simmons.  Game one of the double header on Friday will begin at 4pm, and then the series will end on Saturday starting at noon.
