Box Score 3 Louisiana College (10-2, 8-1) won two games and lost one from Howard Payne University (7-7, 4-5) over this past weekend.
Savannah Settle (7-0), following a week where she earned ASC Pitcher of the week, had arguably an even better week from the circle. The Wildcats won game 1 by a score of 1-0, behind a 2 hit complete game from Settle. Â Savannah took a perfect game into the top half of the last inning before she finally gave up a hit. Â She pitched out of the jam, still shutting out the Yellowjackets. Â In this game she also struck out 8 and only walked 1. Â Howard Payne's pitcher was up to the challenge as well, only giving up 3 hits herself. Â
Morgan Wampler had the only RBI of the game.
The second half of the double-header gave LC only their second loss of the season by a score of 1-6. Â HPU's pitcher, Tirres, who pitched all 21 innings of the 3 game series, held the Wildcats to 4 hits the second game. Â
Morgan Wampler had 2 of the 4 total hits. Â
Jade Johnson came in as a pinch-hitter, and got a hit and LC's only RBI in her one at-bat.Â
The Saturday morning game put Settle back in the circle and helped give LC the win 3-1. Â She pitched another complete game, giving up only 1 run on 6 hits and 9 strike outs. Â Facing Tirres for the third time finally paid off, as the Wildcats amassed 3 runs on 6 hits. Â
Morgan Wampler had another multi-hit game, going 2-3 with an RBI and scoring a run. Â
Jordan Mason and
Heather Simmons both added an RBI as well.
The Wildcat softball team travels to Alpine, TX, to face Sul Ross State in a three game series. Â They return to Coca Cola Wildcat Field March 11th and 12th for a three game series vs. Hardin-Simmons University.
