Men Looking for First Conference Win

The Louisiana College men's basketball team will look to pick up their first conference win of the season on Saturday against Mary Hardin-Baylor before taking on the ASC West leading Concordia on Monday of next week, in their final road trip before Christmas. Tip off for both game will be approximately 3:00 pm after the women's games.

Mary Hardin-Baylor enters the game, along with the Wildcats, as the only two winless teams in conference play this season. The Cru are 4-3 overall and 0-1 in ASC play this year, with their loss coming on the road to Ozarks, 104-92, on November 29th. UMHB comes into the game averaging 82.7 points per game with a 45.4% field goal percentage. They have four players averaging more than 10 points per game through their seven contests this season.
Demarius Cress leads the team with a 19.1 point average, followed by Braden Hammond and Aubrie Kind with 15.6 and 15.0 points per game. Only one player is averaging double digit rebounds per game, Austen Stolte with 10.0 per game.

Concordia is 7-3 this season and 2-0 in conference play, and have been putting up big offensive numbers along the way.  The Tornado have scored 90 plus points in seven of their 10 games so far and had a streak of six straight games with more than 90 points snapped in their 81-76 win over UT Dallas last week.  They are the only team in the conference averaging more than 100 points per game this year at 101.0 behind their 49.0% field goal percentage. Concordia has five players scoring double digit points, led by Joe Neal and Ephriam Price with 18.4 and 17.7 points per game. Neal also leads the team with a 6.2 rebound per game average and 3.2 assist per game average.

The Wildcats are coming off their second win of the season Saturday, 103-88 over Rust College, the first time LC has gone over 100 points in a game this year.  Raheem Regis had a big week with 50 total points and 23 rebounds in the Wildcats two games last week, and was named the ASC East Division Player of the Week.  The senior is leading the Wildcats in points and rebounds per game with 16.7 points and 7.5 boards. John Parker and Steve Evans, although he has missed the last two games due to injury, are also in double figures in points per game at 13.0 and 10.0 per game.  The Wildcats average 77.5 points per game so far and are surrendering 77.7 to their opponents and have a 46.9% field goal percentage.

The Wildcats take on Mary Hardin-Baylor, Saturday at 3:00 pm and Concordia, Monday at 3:00 pm. The will then play at Northwestern State in an exhibition game on December 28th before their home conference opener on January 3rd against Howard Payne.
