Tyler, Texas - The Louisiana College Lady Wildcats saw their run in the 2015 American Southwest Conference Softball Tournament come to an end late Friday night, as they dropped their second game of the tournament to 5th seeded LeTourneau University by a final score of 8-5 after eliminating Hardin-Simmons earlier in the day.

LeTourneau, who came into the game riding high after pulling off the most dramatic comeback in ASC Tournament history, a 9-7 win over Mary Hardin-Baylor in 17 innings, proved to have too much momentum on their side for the Lady Cats to overcome.

The Lady Yellow Jackets exploded for three runs in the bottom of the first inning, highlighted by a two-run home run off the bat off Kelsie Benson to jump ahead 3-0. The Lady Jackets struck again in the bottom of the second when a Megan Hill two-run blast gave them a 5-0 cushion.

A Laura Gulotta-Parrish RBI double in the top of the third would be all that LC would get until the seventh, when the Lady Cats got a pair of two RBI singles from Abby Maillet and Heather Scully with one out to close the gap at 8-5. But back-to-back groundouts by Jayde Westbrook and Emorie Nugent would end the rally and eliminate LC from the tournament.

In game one against HSU, the Lady Wildcats got another outstanding pitching performance from freshman right-hander Savannah Settle to take game one 5-0 against the Cowgirls.

The two teams went scoreless through the first three innings, but another freshman would provide the big spark for LC at the plate in the top of the fourth inning, as designated player Mattie Stine sent her second home run of the season, a two-run shot, over the wall at Suddenlink Field to give the Lady Cats a 2-0 cushion.

With Settle cruising, LC would get three more runs in the top of the fifth, the first of those three coming on an RBI single to centerfield by Jordan Mason that drove in Emorie Nugent. Senior shortstop Laura Gulotta-Parrish would then come up with yet another big hit for LC one batter later, as she ripped a double down the left field line that brought in Mason and Courtney Ivey to put LC out front 5-0.

Settle would take of the rest from there, as she did not allow a hit in her final three innings of work to finish off a complete game, four-hit shutout to move to 15-5 on the year. It was her 17th complete game and ninth complete game shutout of the season.

The Lady Wildcats (28-13 overall) will have to wait until Monday at 10:00 a.m. to see if their name will be called as one of the 62 participants in the NCAA Tournament field. LC's last NCAA Regional appearance came during the 2012 season.
