The Louisiana College softball team, ranked #18 in the NFCA's latest Top 25 poll, picked up a doubleheader sweep over LeTourneau University in dramatic fashion on Tuesday night at Coca-Cola Field in Pineville.

After picking up a 1-0 win in game one, the Lady Cats walked off with a 5-3 win in game two behind a long two-run walk-off home run from junior designated player Abby Maillet.

LC freshman right-handed pitcher Savannah Settle, who carried a perfect game into the fifth inning against the Lady Jackets in game one, tossed her third consecutive complete game shutout, as she allowed just two hits and struck out eight in leading LC to a 1-0 win in the first game of the twinbill.

The Lady Cats scored their only run of the game in the bottom of the third inning when senior first baseman Emorie Nugent singled to second base that drove in centerfielder Jayde Westbrook, as Westbrook slid under a tag at home to score the eventual game-winning run.

Maillet would provide the heroics in game two, as her 10th inning walk-off home run sailed well over the centerfield wall at Coca-Cola Field to secure the extra inning win for Louisiana College.

The Lady Cats would find themselves in an early 2-0 hole in game two, as the Lady Jackets scored twice in the top of the first inning to go up 2-0.

That is all LeTourneau would be able to put on the board until the top of the 10th inning,  however, as LC relief pitchers Katherine Johnson and Darian Thacker combined for 10 innings out of the bullpen and gave up just one run, which was unearned.

LC would eventually tie the game in the bottom of the fourth inning on a solo home run from senior shortstop Laura Gulotta-Parrish to lead off the inning and a RBI single from Westbroook that scored pinch runner Jade Johnson to tie the game 2-2.

After the Lady Jackets scored in their half of the 10th inning to go up 3-2, the Lady Cats would explode for three runs in the bottom of 10th.

The scoring started when Jordan Mason scored on an RBI single from Laura Gulotta-Parrish to tie the game at 3-3, which set up Maillet for the game-winning walk-off home run two batters later to complete the doubleheader sweep for the Lady Wildcats.

Louisiana College moves to 22-5 overall with a 17-2 mark in ASC play. The two teams will play in the series finale on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at Coca-Cola Field.
