The Louisiana College softball team, ranked #18 in the latest NFCA Top 25 poll, continued their hot start to the 2015 season with a doubleheader sweep on Thursday over Howard Payne in Brownwood, Texas.
 
The Lady Cats won game one 7-0 behind 12 hits and another complete game shutout from freshman right-handed pitcher Savannah Settle and took game two 7-3 behind another 14 hits from their lineup.
 
LC left fielder Jordan Mason led the Lady Cats at the plate in game one, blasting a solo home run in the fifth inning to cap a 3-for-5 day at the plate that included three RBI and three runs scored.
 
Senior catcher Courtney Ivey added three hits and three RBI of her own while Settled allowed just two hits over her seven innings of work while striking out five.
 
LC picked up another win in game two, as sophomore left-handed pitcher Taylor Leger tossed a complete game and gave up just two earned runs to pick up the win.
 
Ivey, Jayde Westbrook, Mattie Stine, and Ellen Bairsnfather all collected two hits a piece while freshman second baseman Heather Scully led LC with three hits on the day.
 
The Lady Cats move to 19-5 on the season with a 14-2 record in ASC play. The two teams will square off in the series finale on Friday at noon.
