The Lady Wildcats' bats came out on fire in the first game, as they put together a six run frame in the top of the first, as they sent 11 batters to the plate to take a 6-0 lead after the first inning.
LC would the score six more runs in the final three frames to run away with the Cowgirls for a 12-4 win in six innings due to the 8-run rule.
Left fielder
Jordan Mason, shortstop Laura Gullotta-Parrish, and center fielder
Jayde Westbrook all had two RBI a piece in game one while
Abby Maillet had three hits at the plate and collected her first win of the season by tossing 3 2/3 innings in relief of starter
Taylor Leger.
The Cowgirls would return the favor in game two, however, as they were able to gain the early advantage with three runs in the bottom of the first inning off Leger to take a 3-0 lead after one inning.
LC senior catcher
Courtney Ivey would drive in the Lady Cats' only run of the game in the top of the third when she singled to bring home freshman second baseman
Heather Scully.
The Lady Wildcats would put together a potential game-tying rally in the top of the seventh when Scully laced a two-out double to left field to put two runners in scoring position, but Hardin-Simmons was able to get out of the jam when
Emorie Nugent grounded out to shortstop to end the game.
LC's record now sits at 13-3 overall with a 12-2 mark in ASC play with the series loss. They will get a break from conference play when the University of Wisconsin Eau-Claire comes to Pineville for a non-conference doubleheader on Friday beginning at 2:00 p.m.Â
