Box Score Box ScoreUpdated Season StatsAbilene, TX - The Louisiana College softball team suffered their first conference loss of the season on Saturday, as the Lady Wildcats suffered a 9-3 loss to the Hardin-Simmons Cowgirls in Abilene, Texas to end their 12 game win streak.
After both teams went scoreless through the first four innings, the Lady Cats loaded the bases with one out in the top of the fifth inning and got an RBI single from
Heather Scully and back-to-back bases loaded walks from
Emorie Nugent and
Jordan Mason to take a 3-0 lead.
But the Cowgirls would respond in a huge way, as they exploded for seven hits and eight runs in the bottom of the fifth to go ahead 8-3.
Hardin-Simmons would add another run in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 9-3 lead and hand LC freshman pitcher
Savannah Settle her first career loss in an LC uniform.
The loss drops the Lady Wildcats to 12-2 overall and 11-1 in ASC play. Due to weather conditions, the final two games of the series will not be played until Sunday at noon, weather permitting.
