Belton, TX - The Louisiana College softball team won their 12th straight game on Saturday afternoon, as they swept their series against the Sul Ross Lobos by taking game three by a final score of 5-3 in Belton, Texas.

Freshman right-handed pitcher Savannah Settle recorded her seventh win of the season by striking out a season-high 13 batters while back-to-back two-run frames by the Lady Wildcat batters ignited the late comeback victory.

Sul Ross took their first lead of the series in the top of the first inning when Dayna Whitmore scored off an error from Settle to put the Lobos up 1-0. The Lobos would extend that lead to 2-0 in the top of the third when Whitmore hit a homered off Settle with one out.

With the freshman right-hander settling in after that, the Lady Cats were able to begin their comeback, scoring their first run of the game in the bottom of the third on an RBI single from freshman second baseman Heather Scully and then taking a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI triple from Emorie Nugent and an RBI sac fly from Laura Gulotta-Parrish.

LC would bring their final runs across in the bottom of the sixth inning on an RBI double from Jayde Westbrook and an RBI groundout from Mattie Stine to give them a comfortable 5-2 lead heading into the final frame.

Sul Ross would add another run in the top of the seventh on a home run from Kalea Simon, but it was not enough as LC hung on for the 5-3 win.

The Lady Cats move to 12-1 overall and a perfect 11-0 in ASC play with the sweep to keep them atop the conference standings along with Texas-Tyler and East Texas Baptist, who also remain unbeaten in conference play.

LC will travel to Abilene, Texas next week for a three game ASC series against Hardin-Simmons that is scheduled to begin on Friday with a doubleheader beginning at 3:00 p.m.
