The Louisiana College softball team kept their early season momentum going on Saturday, as they took game three of their series against Texas-Dallas 7-5 in eight innings to complete the series sweep.

The Lady Cats were able to dig out of an early 5-2 hole to complete the comeback win and remain unbeaten in conference play.

Abby Maillet would start the scoring on the afternoon, as she ripped a two-run double to right field that scored Jordan Mason and Emorie Nugent to put LC ahead 2-0 in the first inning.

But the Comets would strike back in a big way, plating five runs combined between the first and second innings, highlighted by a three-run home run from shortstop Taylor Jenson and a solo shot from leftfielder Avery McHugh to give UT-Dallas a 5-2 lead after two complete.

The Lady Cats would inch their way back into the game, however, getting RBIs from Jayde Westbrook in the third, Regan LeJeune in the sixth, and a clutch run-scoring single from senior catcher Courtney Ivey in the top of the seventh to score Mason and tie the game at 5-5 and push the game into extra innings.

Mattie Stine put the game away for the Lady Cats in the top of the eighth inning with a two-run double to right centerfield that scored Ellen Bairnsfather and Westbrook to put LC ahead 7-5 heading into the bottom of the final frame.

Freshman right-hander Sevannah Settle was outstanding in the circle yet again, as she went all eight innings while giving five earned runs and nine hits to pick up her third win of the series.

The Lady Cats sit at the top of the early ASC standings with the sweep, as they move to 4-1 on the season with a 3-0 mark in conference play.  They are scheduled to take on Concordia University next weekend in an ASC series at home that will begin on Friday with a doubleheader beginning at 3:00 p.m.
