The Louisiana College men's soccer team got off to a hot start against East Texas Baptist on Saturday, but a match-winning goal in the final minutes of the match between the American Southwest Conference rivals was the difference as the Tigers took a 2-1 win over the Wildcats at Marshall, Texas.

The Wildcats got an early boost from freshman Daniel Delva, who scored the first goal of the match when he charged towards ETBU goal keeper Juan Perales and chipped the ball in to give LC a 1-0 lead in the 16^th minute of the 1^st half.

The Wildcats would hold tough the rest of the half, carrying that 1-0 lead into the locker room after 45 minutes of inspired defensive play.

The Tigers would even things up late in the second half, however, as Danilo Martins scored the tying goal in the 76^th minute off an assist from Brett Forbus to even the score at 1-1.

Both teams would hold throughout most of the second, but it was ETBU who would breakthrough in the end, as Pedro Guerra heeled in a match-clinching goal in the 88^th minute to stun the Wildcats and give the Tigers their second conference win of the season.

The loss drops the Wildcats to 1-11 overall and 0-5 in ASC play. The Wildcats will take on traditional ASC power Texas-Tyler on Thursday at home at Wildcat Field in a conference matchup scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
