The Louisiana College women's soccer team dropped a close 1-0 decision to Millsaps University on Saturday afternoon in Jackson, MS to close out their first weekend of the 2014 season.

An early goal from Millsaps' Taylor Winslow off an assist from Amy Peters in the 10th minute of the first half was the lone score of the contest.

Despite another great effort from the Lady Wildcats' defense the final 80 minutes of the match, LC would fall just short in the 1-0 loss.

The Lady Wildcats' offensive attack actually pushed the pace in the second half, and had a few opportunities to tie the contest in the final minutes. The first came when Erin Biggs' shot in the 77th minute was saved by Millsaps' keeper Elise Davis.

Millsaps would have to hold their breath once again when LC freshman Mckenzie Bodin broke through with less than a minute remaining in the match and got off a good look at the tying goal, but Davis once again came up with the save to secure the win.

The Lady Cats' got off seven shots in the match compared to eight from Millsaps, five of which came from Winslow.

Shely Schneider also had a much better day in the goal for LC, as she played the entire match and came up with four saves.

Despite going 0-2 on the weekend in Jackson, the Lady Wildcats earned valuable experience as they look towards next weekend's trip to Birmingham, AL where they will take on Sewanee on Friday afternoon followed by a matchup against Birmingham-Southern on Saturday afternoon to close out the road trip.
