TYLER, TX - After a three-run fifth inning pushed the Patriots over the top in a 4-1 win in game one of Saturday's doubleheader, the Lady Cats used another outstanding pitching performance from sophomore Madison Vige and a three-run eighth inning to take game two 3-0 and hand top-ranked UT-Tyler just their third loss of the season.

With Vige holding the Patriots potent offensive attacked scoreless through seven innings, the Lady Cats would look to their senior leaders in the eighth inning of game two and, just as they have done all season long, Stephanie Jaeger, Meagan Pearson, and Chelsea Allen answered that call.

With one out in the eighth inning, Jaeger ripped an RBI single that brought freshman shortstop Jessica Johnson around to score and break the scoreless tie.

With the dangerous Pearson at the plate one batter later, Allen, who reached earlier in the inning on a bunt single, was able to score on a pass ball to put LC up 2-0.

The Lady Cats were not done, however, as Pearson then ripped an RBI single to left field to score Jaeger and give LC a 3-0 lead.

Vige would close out the game from there, as the right-handed pitcher tossed perhaps her finest game of her college career. The sophomore gave up just seven hits over eight innings of work and walked one in helping lead her team to the upset win over the Patriots in the regular season finale for both teams.

The Lady Wildcats finished the regular season with a 21-13 overall record and a 21-12 mark in ASC play. With Mississippi College being ineligible for the ASC Tournament due to their move to Division II, LC will be the #4 seed in the upcoming ASC Tournament, which is scheduled to begin on May 1st in Tyler, TX. UT-Tyler (37-3, 31-2) will be the #1 seed in the tournament.
