Despite an inspired effort by the Lady Wildcats against the nation's top ranked squad, the Louisiana College softball team fell to #1 Texas-Tyler by a final score of 2-0 on Friday afternoon in Tyler, TX, as the Patriots clinched the American Southwest Conference regular season title.
 
LC starter Madison Vige was extremely effective in holding down the Patriots lethal offense early on, as UT-Tyler was held scoreless by the sophomore right-handed pitcher through five full innings.
 
But a two out, two RBI single with the bases load by UT-Tyler's Shelby Shelton broke the scoreless tie and gave the Patriots the eventual game-winning runs they need to claim the ASC crown.
 
The Lady Wildcats fell to 20-12 overall and 20-11 in ASC play with the loss. The two teams will square off again on Saturday in a doubleheader at Suddenlink Field in Tyler, TX in the regular season finale slated to begin at 1:00 p.m.
