PINEVILLE, LA - Two big innings, one each in both ends of Friday's doubleheader, proved to be the deciding factor in the East Texas Baptist's doubleheader sweep of the Louisiana College softball team on senior day at Coca-Cola Field.

After battling the seventh ranked Lady Tigers to a 1-1 tie after seven innings in game one on the back of an RBI double by LC freshman shortstop Jessica Johnson, the Lady Wildcats appeared to be on their way to a potential upset win as they went into extra innings.

However, a leadoff home run by ETBU first baseman Lacey Lindsey off of LC's Nancy Bunting gave the Lady Tigers the lead 2-1 and they never looked back from there.

ETBU would end up sending 13 batters to the plate in the top of the eighth inning, as they scored 10 runs on nine hits to take game one is stunning fashion 11-1.

The big inning would prove to be the Lady Cat's downfall in game two as well, as the two teams were locked up in a scoreless tie after three innings in what looked to be another low scoring affair early on.

But a nine run fourth inning by ETBU, highlighted by a grand slam home run off the bat of right fielder Alyssa Romero, put LC in a hole they could not get out of, as the Lady Tigers took game two by a final score of 9-0.

On the bright side for the Lady Cats, star senior shortstop Meagan Pearson was cleared medically to play in both games as the designated player, as she collected two hits on the day and looks to appears to be set to go heading into the final series of the season against Texas-Tyler and the ASC Tournament.

The series sweep by ETBU dropped LC's season record to 20-11 overall and 20-10 in ASC play. The Lady Cats will play their final regular season series starting next Friday at 4:00 p.m. against a top-5 Texas-Tyler in Tyler, TX.
