PINEVILLE, LA - Louisiana College's softball early season offensive explosion continued on Friday afternoon at Coca-Cola Field in an American Southwest Conference single game matchup against the Ozarks as the Lady Cats used 12 hits and seven stolen bases to beat the Lady Eagles 18-5 to remain perfect in ASC play.

LC jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning on back-to-back doubles down the left field line by
Meagan Pearson and Sandy Ouchley, followed later by a double steal where Ouchley took home to give LC the two run lead.

The Lady Cats would then explode for nine runs on six hits and three Ozarks walks in the second inning to take a commanding 11-0 lead. LC left fielder
Emorie Nugent went 2-for-2 in the inning with four RBI.

Five more runs would cross the plate for the Lady Cats in the bottom of the third with the big blow coming on a pinch-hit three-run home run by
Abby Maillet.

LC freshman left-hander
Taylor Leger tossed 3.2 innings to earn the win and move to 3-0 on the year. Leger gave up one hit and two earned runs, those coming on a two-run home run to centerfield by Ozarks first baseman Michelle Edmiston in the top of the fourth inning.

LC was led offensively by Nugent, who finished 2-for-4 at the plate with four RBI and a run scored as the Lady Wildcats drew eight walks on the afternoon from Ozarks starting pitcher Haley McKee.

The Lady Cats move to 7-1 overall on the season and 7-0 in ASC play and will face off again with Ozarks in a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at noon. With Texas-Tyler's loss to Mississippi College on Friday, LC now moves into a tie for first place in the ASC standings with arch-rival East Texas Baptist.
