CLINTON, MS - Louisiana College's final men's basketball matchup of the 2013-2014 regular season also marked the final time that the Wildcats will play against Mississippi College as Division III opponents.

The Choctaws were able to get the best of the Wildcats in the historic matchup, beating Louisiana College 78-72 on Monday night in the A.E. Wood Coliseum in Clinton, MS.

Mississippi College carried a 43-33 lead into halftime when Jay Case hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to give the Choctaws the 10-point advantage.

After outscoring the Wildcats 26-8 in the paint in the first half, MC continued their dominance down low in the second half, as they ended the game with a 38-24 advantage in the paint for the game.

Case would end up leading the Choctaws in the scoring with 24 points while Rayner Fredrick came off the bench to record a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Doc Welch sent his regular season career out with a bang, as he poured in 24 points, which included a 6-for-7 shooting night from behind the three-point line. Freshman center
Raheem Regis (12 points, seven rebounds) and sophomore forward AJ Gaines, Jr. (10 points, five rebounds) were also in double figures for the Wildcats.

LC finishes the regular season with an 11-13 overall record and an 11-11 record in ASC play. They will be the #6 seed in the ASC Tournament and take on #3 seed Mary Hardin-Baylor in the first round on Friday at 12 p.m. UTD Activity Center on the campus of UT-Dallas in Richardson, TX.
