The Louisiana College softball team, coming off of an impressive opening weekend against Texas-Dallas, made a statement in their ASC road opening series, as they pounded out a combined 23 hits and 23 runs in back-to-back shutouts of Concordia on Friday night.

Game One Box Score
Playing behind a dominant performance from freshman left handed pitcher Taylor Leger and the powerful bats of catcher Courtney Ivey and shortstop Meagan Pearson, the Lady Wildcats took game one of Friday's doubleheader by a final score of 5-0.

LC wasted little time jumping out on top when senior second baseman Stephanie Jaeger reached on an error by Concordia right fielder Jenna Franz in the top of the first inning, bringing Emorie Nugent across for the Lady Cats' first run of the game.

Pearson then drove Jaeger in on an RBI single through the left hand side one batter later to give LC an early two-run cushion.

Ivey would follow Pearson's lead in the top of the fifth inning with her first home run of the season, a solo shot to left field that extended LC's lead to 3-0.

Pearson would strike again in the top of the sixth inning when she followed a Jaeger single with a long two-run home run down the left field line to give LC a 5-0 lead.

That was plenty of run support for Leger, who had a breakout performance by throwing a complete game one-hit shutout with eight strikeouts to earn her second win of the season and move to 2-0 on the year.

Game Two Box Score
Game two was not so close, as the Lady Cats pounded out 13 hits and had four run frames in the first, third, fourth, and fifth inning on their way to an 18-0 win in five innings in the nightcap.

Sophomore pitcher Abby Maillet matched Leger's performance in game one with a gem in the circle of her own, as she also tossed a complete game one-hitter of her own, shutting down Concordia's bats with her impressive assortment of off speed pitches.

Sandra Ouchley led LC offensive in game two, going 4-for-5 at the plate with two doubles, four RBI, and a run scored. Pearson followed her game one performance with a 3-for-5 showing in game two, matching Ouchley with four RBI.

Nugent and Jaeger also collected two hits a piece while the combo scored a total of eight runs batting in the first two spots in the LC order, with Nugent crossing the plate five times.

LC now stands at 5-1 overall with a perfect 5-0 conference record intact. The two teams will square off again tomorrow in a single seven inning game slated to begin at noon.
