Box Score
Saturday's American Southwest Conference matchup between Louisiana College and Concordia University turned into a shootout between LC's
Kevin Lewis and Concordia's Josh Sanchez.
Â
Unfortunately for the Wildcats, Lewis' efforts were not enough, as the Tornadoes would take the 83-80 win, handing LC their third conference loss in their last four games in the process.
Â
Sanchez, who was held to 13 points on just 3-17 shooting when the two teams last met on November 30
th in Pineville, exploded for 33 points on 11-21 shooting to go along with five rebounds and two steals.
Â
Lewis, whose previous career-high in points scored 19 against Howard Payne earlier in the season, knocked down 12 of his 20 shots for 29 points to go along with seven rebounds, two blocks, and two steals.
Â
Concordia's preseason All-American candidate Dwayne Patterson was as good as advertised, as he scored 15 points and collected a game-high 14 rebounds.
Â
The Wildcats held a 38-35 halftime lead after holding Concordia to a terrible first half of shooting where the Tornadoes made just 10 of their 35 shots (28.5%) in the first twenty minutes.
Â
The Tornadoes would respond in a big way in the second half, however, as they scored 48 points in the final frame after shooting 67.9% (19-28) from the field.
Â
LC remains in fourth place in the ASC standings with a 9-8 overall record and a 9-6 mark in conference play. The ASC's third pace team, Hardin-Simmons, will visit the H.O. West Fieldhouse on Thursday for a 7:30 p.m. matchup against the Wildcats in a game that could have huge implications on seeding for the 2014 ASC Men's Basketball Tournament.Â
