The Louisiana College women's soccer team closed out their 2014 campaign on Saturday afternoon in Brownwood, TX against Howard Payne University, falling to the Lady Jackets by a final score of 3-0.

HPU, who clinched a spot in the 2014 ASC Tournament for the third time in school history with the win, broke the scoreless tie in the 10^th minute of the match when Marley Zochert fired from the right wing off an assist from Courtney Turner to give the Lady Jackets a 1-0 lead.

The Lady Cats defense would step up the rest of the first half, shutting down the HPU attack to go into halftime trailing by just one goal.

But with their postseason fates on the line, the Lady Jackets were determined on the day, as they scored two goals in the first 4 minutes of the second half to pull away in the final period.

The first came in the 47^th minute when Taylor Bicknell shot from the close right wing and found the back of the net off an assist from Vivian Nguyen to put HPU up 2-0.

Nguyen then added a goal of her own on a header in the box off of Turner's second assist on the afternoon in the 49th minute.

HPU out shot LC 18-8 on the day, including a 16-4 advantage in shots on goal.

The Lady Wildcats closed out the season with a 2-15 overall record, despite playing their best overall soccer over the final three weeks of the season and facing the toughest schedule in school history and one of the toughest in their region.
